Grading policies
The following are percentages of the final grade:  project and participation grades, 60%; notebook, Devil Achievement Time (D.A.T.), cleanup, and homework, 30 %.   The percentage of unit and final Tests will count 10 % of the final grade. Due to the nature of art class, each student is graded according to individual skill, neatness, and effort meeting class requirements.  A student who is not highly skilled in a particular area will not be compared to a student who has more experience.  Effort in meeting lesson objectives and class participation are the keys to success!

Grading scale
A+ (96-100)   Exceptional   Shows extra effort in class participation, neatness and creativity.
A  (90-96)      Excellent Shows extra effort in class participation and neatness.
B  (80-89)      Good   Shows effort in class participation and neatness.
C  (70-79)      Fair   Shows little effort.
F  Below 70   Failing   Shows no effort.

Consequences
Consistent with other classes, the discipline consequences are based on the three-strike system. The student will be verbally warned on the first offense, seating changes may be arranged on the second and a strike will be given on the third. Please check your student’s agenda!  Additional strikes are earned as rules and procedures are broken.  Parent contact will be made after the second strike. On the third strike, detention will be assigned and a parent teacher conference with an Administrator may follow.
Severe Clause: If a student willfully inflicts harm upon another student, willfully destroys property, or is insubordinate to the teacher, he or she will be sent directly to the office.  Intentional damage to school property including materials or tools by the student must be repaired or replaced by the student.

Teacher note: I look forward in working together to insure a safe, educational, and fun experience for your student.  Teaching art is my passion, but making positive impact in the way your son or daughter achieves success is my mission.  Each effort is worthy of merit and each outcome has endless possibilities!
